The Centre will be a top international multidisciplinary research destination focussed on contemporary issues in clinical care and global health needs to prevent and reduce the burden of disease, improve clinical care, and advance medical and scientific knowledge.

Mission

To assemble a unique multi-disciplinary team integrated with clinical care and routine diagnostic medicine and the necessary physical resources to apply the full power of contemporary scientific knowledge and methods with an emphasis on genetics, mathematics, computing and clinical and laboratory research to our vision.

Objectives

The overall objectives of the Centre are to support the achievement of its mission and work towards the agreed vision. Therefore, the Institute's agreed strategic objectives are to:

1. Provide research tools and technology services and identify the most pressing clinical questions;
2. Conduct high quality clinical observational research addressing these questions and generate hypotheses to be tested in the laboratory;
3. Translate the results of this research into clinical trials and improvements in clinical care and diagnostic services;
4. Disseminate the results of this multidisciplinary research to the highest recognised international standards;
5. Extend the research and generalise the benefits to clinical care and diagnostics around the world through collaboration with national and international institutes having particular areas of strength;
6. Secure any intellectual property and commercial benefits to Western Australia;
7. Provide clinical assistance and advice to international national and state clinicians and clinical programs;
8. Provide clinical immunology and biomedical statistics training for postgraduate and undergraduate students;
9. Maximise external funding for sustainable research and commercialisation; and
10. Recruit, support, and develop high quality staff.
